In March 2025, AIG Margaret Ochalla Agebe was appointed the 54th Assistant Inspector General of Police, overseeing the FCID Annex in Lagos. This new responsibility places her at the helm of criminal intelligence and investigative operations across the region.

Her outstanding leadership and dedicated service have earned her the prestigious title of Female Commissioner of the Year at the NAOSNP National Security Conference/Awards 2023, a well-deserved recognition of her exceptional contributions. The event, held on Thursday, September 21, at the Civic Centre, V/I, Lagos, celebrated Commissioner Ochalla’s significant contributions to the field of law enforcement.

 

Margaret Ochalla, with her captivating beauty and resolute character, currently holds the position of Commissioner of Police in charge of the Special Fraud Unit in Lagos State. Known for her unwavering commitment, she approaches her duties with an unparalleled sense of honesty, kindness, and humility.

 

Having previously served in the Anti-Fraud Section under the Force Criminal Investigation Department, her remarkable track record demonstrates her dedication to the force and her passion for justice.

 

Among AIG Ochalla’s notable achievements as Force Gender Coordinator, is her role in the reactivation of the online reporting platform (http://www. fciidgender.net), offering victims a confidential platform to report cases of SGBV (Sexual and Gender-Based Violence) and related crimes.

 

Ochalla’s dedication to gender inclusivity and safety is evident in her establishment of Police Gender Desks in all tertiary institutions across Nigeria. As a tireless advocate for gender equality and child protection, Ochalla authored a book titled “Understanding Child and Gender Protection for a Better Society.” This publication serves as a valuable resource for policymakers, law enforcement agencies, and individuals seeking to promote a safer and more equitable society.

 

As a global advocate on gender affairs,  Ochalla was conferred with the Ambassadorial Award by Global Gender Safety and Moral Development, and she received the prestigious Female Humanitarian of the Year award from the esteemed Hall of Fame. The Sheik of Dubai personally presented her with the Global Women Hall of Fame (CELD), further emphasising her impact on a global scale.

 

Margaret Ochalla’s unwavering commitment, leadership, and remarkable achievements make her a deserving recipient of the Female Commissioner of the Year award. Her dedication to law enforcement and gender equality continues to inspire and pave the way for a safer and more inclusive society.
